SyncNex: Why Unnecessarily Wait Longer at a Traffic Signal?

A survey suggests that Indians spend almost 2 hours on the road every day, which is much more in comparison to other people in most countries of the world. To be more precise, on an average, Indians spend 7% of their day commuting to the office. The situation is worse in metro cities. Has it ever happened to you that sitting in your car, waiting for the signal to turn green, you are thinking why does the signal show 120 seconds waiting time when there is absolutely no need because the traffic is very less?

A redundant traffic management system is a major reason behind queuing and congestion on the road. Sometimes even emergency vehicles like an ambulance or police van are stuck in the traffic, losing precious seconds. Finding an answer to this problem, we designed a product named SyncNex. It is a smart Adaptive Traffic Signal Control System (ATSCS) which will help create clear roads for commuters by wisely managing the traffic signal lights. The product was soft-launched on the 12th of November, 2020.

Traffic signals are traditionally timed based on the sample survey carried out over a few important junctions periodically. The same timings are then applied to other junctions. In addition to this, most traffic signals in the city are not connected with a centralized monitoring system. Even if they are connected, there is no system to monitor them in real-time. This obsolete traffic management system is incapable of handling the constantly changing flow and volume of traffic.

SyncNex- A live web-based application enhances the efficiency of traffic operators by enabling them to get a real idea about the situation. A map-based view of intersections and arterial networks accelerate collaboration between multiple stakeholders. This smart app can forecast future traffic conditions and equip authorities with necessary decision support tools. Apart from reducing traffic congestion, the web-based application also enhances the safety of commuters by automatically detecting incidents.

Team Amnex has also developed a traffic signal controller named SyncNex-NX0801. This member of SyncNex family provides seamless traffic control capabilities to the authorities. It can either be operated as an integrated unit for a large and extensive traffic management system or as a standalone unit at an isolated junction.

The main purpose of technology is to make life more comfortable and solve as many issues as possible. SyncNex does just that by reducing travel time and congestion on the road which indirectly contributes to a healthier environment by reducing carbon emission.  At Amnex, our aim has always been to design sustainable solutions that can create an impact in every single industry that touches human life. SyncNex has been our one more sincere effort in that direction.
