Kochi Water Metro

Kochi, is one of the most densely populated districts in the state of Kerala. Inland water transport was once the primary means of passenger and freight travel on the Vembanadu Lake. Due to minimal investment and no technology upgrade, there has been a decline in this system.

The Kochi Water Metro is an innovative project by Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) and it is a proud moment for Amnex, to have grabbed the opportunity for this prestigious project. The water metro is expected to reduce pollution and traffic congestion in the city and also easy access to business areas for urban households near Kochi lakeshore. It intends to introduce modern, energy-efficient, environment friendly, and safe boats.

This is Amnex’s first metro project which provides an exciting opportunity to work in ITMS for water transport. With our product LOCOMATE, we are offering AVLS, PIS, Passenger announcement systems, and command & control applications. The project envisages the development of 16 identified routes connecting 38 jetties for 10 island communities across a 76-km route network.

Kochi is the first city in the country to have achieved a milestone whereby water transport has been integrated as a feeder service to the metro. We are happy to announce that Amnex is a part of this innovative project which is first of its kind in the country.
