It has now been over half a decade since the country has been discussing the concept of smart cities and witnessing cities turning into smart cities with the power of breakthrough technologies. Amnex has unleashed one after another powerful technology solutions such as smart streetlights, intelligent mobility, smart waste management and traffic management systems and even a city GIS visualization centre. However, what interconnects all these technologies to optimize the functioning of the smart city is Outline- the nerve centre of the smart city.
India is rapidly advancing towards the smart city era where the inter-domain application of IoT (Internet of Things), cloud computing and big data define how future cities will work. However, all these activities are controlled by the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), known as the nerve centre of the smart city.
In our bodies, the nerve centre represents a group of nerve cells closely connected with one another. They act together to perform some function with optimum efficiency. Similarly, a smart city nerve centre collates data from diverse sources and creates a single control centre that can manage real-time IoT traffic. It is capable of receiving large volumes of structured and unstructured data from sensors located in diverse geography, streams of social media and even mobile devices.
The nerve centre then processes the received data, derives insights from them and triggers automated actions. Human intervention is only required when the situation escalates beyond the system’s control.
Amnex’s robust nerve centre ICCC was recently deployed at Salem, a major city in Tamil Nadu, as a part of the Salem Smart City Mission. Salem’s state-of-the-art Integrated Command and Control Centre Outline will help civic authorities deal with day-to-day operations and address citizen grievances smoothly. The centre handles actions triggered by smart street lights, public address systems, smart poles, emergency call boxes and city surveillance systems. It also pushes messages displayed on the sign boards for the citizens. Outline will also provide video conferencing facilities to the decision-makers. In a nutshell, the nerve centre will plan, organize, direct and control several city functions, eliminating human intervention at multiple levels.
Amnex has earlier empowered Surat and Gandhinagar smart cities with Outline. In Salem as well, the newly-founded ICCC has created much buzz and anticipation amidst the citizens as they gear up to see their city transform into a smart city.
