India’s first water metro inaugurated in Kochi, and it is a matter of pride for us

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s first water metro in Kerala’s Kochi on 25th April. The unique urban mass transit system will provide the same experience and ease of travel as the conventional bus or metro system. It is just one glimpse of how revolutionary the future of transportation is going to be in India. Amnex takes pride in being a crucial part of this path-breaking project as the master system integrator.

Kochi Water Metro is a one-of-a-kind boating service that is linked to the city’s metro rail network. The water metro is a ‘feeder’ or connector service under Kochi Metro Rail Corporation. It will connect 10 islands around Kochi through battery-operated electric hybrid boats and will provide seamless connectivity with the city.

Burgeoning travel demands and increasing strain on public transportation have compelled authorities to find alternatives for conventional public transportation systems like buses, trains, and taxis. Kochi Metro Rail Limited has ventured into developing water metro that can be as reliable and precise as conventional systems. Amnex’s ITMS solution, integrated with ferries and station-like jetties will make this possible. Kochi Metro Rail Limited’s initiative is just the first step towards developing an integrated transportation network where commuters can seamlessly travel by multiple modes of transport with a consolidated ticket.

Locomate will enable commuters and transit authorities to track ferries in real time. They would also be able to check ETA and ETD (Estimated Time of Arrival/Departure) with its help. It will enable transit authorities to prepare meticulous timetables and address incidents in an instant.

While changing circumstances force us to venture into unchartered territories, technologies are ensuring that the unventured path is predictable, safe, and explorable. Amnex
