India is smartening up its cities, and Amnex is one of the torchbearers

Have you ever watched ‘The Jetsons’? This fun family cartoon was way ahead of its time. Its first episode premiered in 1962, and the cartoon predicted the future technologies so meticulously that it could flabbergast you.

The cartoon, set in 2062, predicted flying cars, 3D printers, drone deliveries, smart traffic systems, jetpacks and what not! Most of them have turned into a reality, and we are proceeding quickly toward others.

Don’t we imagine a technology-empowered future like this when we talk about smart cities? Just like the Jetsons’ predictions, smart cities are turning into a reality, that too, quite impressively.

Seven years after the launch of a flagship Smart Cities Mission, seven cities of India are set to be declared as India’s ‘first set of smart cities’. The list includes Bhopal, Surat, Bhubaneswar, Udaipur, Ahmedabad, Varanasi and Indore. The cities are envisioned to be optimally sustainable and citizen-friendly.

We are living in exciting times when we not only witness this massive transformation but can also be an integral part of it.

Amnex has been at the forefront of developing and delivering smart city solutions such as ITMS for transport, ATCS for automated traffic management, smart parking, smart utility, city GIS, solid waste management, digital payments, smart infrastructure, big data analytics and intelligent streetlights. All these solutions have a single aim- the city should be governed with optimum efficiency and minimal intervention.

Amnex envisages future smart cities that can work in perfect synergy with minimum human intervention. That is why the organization is actively working towards integrating services like transportation, traffic, emergency management, waste management etc. As a result, it will elevate the efficiency of smart cities to a great extent. In addition, it will help governing authorities utilize the city’s resources to the best of their capacities.

For example, if waste collection and transit vehicles are equipped with high onboard connectivity and cameras, they can be used for spotting encroachment and parking violations. When the details are gathered on a single platform, they immediately provide actionable insights that can improvise operations, reduce cost and help generate more revenue.

For integrated operations of smart cities, Amnex is creating robust ICCCs- also known as the nerve centres of smart cities. Just like a nerve centre in the body controls closely connected nerve cells to perform a particular function, Amnex’s ICCC solution Outline enables authorities to manage city operations from a single platform. It gathers and analyses data and displays insights in the most effective way to trigger action. The nation will soon see Amnex’s Outline elevating the functioning of Surat, Gandhinagar, Salem and several more cities.

Apart from ICCC, Amnex empowers cities across India with technologically advanced transport, traffic, parking, street lights and other innovative solutions that add layers of smartness to the city’s functioning.

This is just the beginning. With India targeting to ‘smarten up’ around 100 cities, the scope of work is beyond imagination.
