ZAP

Repeatable web application security testing for your delivery workflow

We provide ZAP consulting, implementation, test configuration, automation, and technical support. We help organizations use the open source ZAP project for dynamic security testing of web applications and APIs within an agreed testing scope.

A practical foundation for your team

Our services connect the testing tool with application access, authentication, automation, and the review of findings. We work with your development and security teams to make scans repeatable and useful, with clear decisions about target environments, scan policies, and follow-up responsibilities.

A scan is only as useful as the application paths it reaches and the way results are reviewed. Authentication, API definitions, test data, and application state can all influence coverage and findings.

We help your team configure these conditions and establish a process for investigating and retesting issues, while recognizing that automated scanning is one part of a broader application security program.

What we do

Our ZAP Services

01 / 10

Testing Strategy and Scope

Define the applications, endpoints, and environments that ZAP should test. We review user journeys, available API definitions, test accounts, and operational constraints so that the chosen scan approach has an explicit scope and useful acceptance criteria.

  • Application and endpoint assessment
  • Test environment planning
  • Scan scope and exclusions
  • Testing workflow definition

02 / 10

ZAP Setup and Configuration

Prepare ZAP for interactive or automated use in the selected environment. We configure runtime dependencies, connectivity, and available add-ons, and validate access to the target application before documenting the setup for repeatable testing.

  • Installation and runtime setup
  • Proxy and certificate configuration
  • Add-on compatibility review
  • Target connectivity validation

03 / 10

Application Discovery and API Onboarding

Help ZAP reach the pages and endpoints relevant to the application. We configure supported discovery approaches and import available API descriptions, then review observed coverage with developers to identify important areas that still need additional testing.

  • Application exploration setup
  • OpenAPI or other supported import
  • Context and URL organization
  • Coverage and gap review

04 / 10

Authentication and Session Handling

Configure scans that can exercise authenticated application functions. We review login and session behavior, set up appropriate test users and contexts, and validate that scans remain authenticated rather than silently testing only public pages.

  • Authentication method configuration
  • User and context setup
  • Session verification
  • Authenticated workflow testing

05 / 10

Scan Policy and Execution

Configure passive and active testing according to the agreed environment and scope. We review applicable checks, scan settings, exclusions, and resource considerations, then validate the chosen policy before it is used for recurring application testing.

  • Passive and active scan planning
  • Rule and policy configuration
  • Scan execution and monitoring
  • Test evidence collection

06 / 10

CI/CD and Automation Integration

Bring repeatable ZAP testing into the delivery process using supported automation capabilities. We help define scan configuration, artifact handling, and pipeline outcomes so that teams can interpret results without making every new alert an unexplained release blocker.

  • Automation Framework configuration
  • Container or job integration
  • Report artifact generation
  • Pipeline result criteria

07 / 10

Finding Review and Remediation Support

Help teams interpret alerts in the context of the application. We review evidence, investigate possible false positives, and work with developers to prioritize and retest findings so that the scan output leads to concrete follow-up.

  • Alert evidence review
  • False-positive investigation
  • Remediation guidance
  • Targeted retesting

08 / 10

Maintenance and Test Coverage Improvement

Keep scan configuration useful as the application and tool change. We review add-on updates, authentication flows, API definitions, and recurring exceptions, then validate that the testing workflow still reaches the intended functionality and reports usable results.

  • Version and add-on assessment
  • Authentication regression checks
  • API and scope updates
  • Recurring scan health reviews

09 / 10

Technical Support

Get help with scan failures, authentication loss, missing application coverage, automation errors, unexpected alerts, and reporting problems. We examine the available evidence, coordinate investigation across the relevant components, and help your team identify corrective actions.

Support arrangements define the covered environment, service hours, communication channels, priorities, and escalation process. This gives your team a clear route for requesting assistance and following an issue through investigation, validation, and closure.

  • Incident investigation and troubleshooting
  • Configuration and integration assistance
  • Root-cause analysis within the agreed scope
  • Resolution guidance and incident documentation

Training and Knowledge Transfer

Build practical understanding of ZAP configuration, application contexts, authenticated testing, scan policies, automation, finding review, and retesting. We tailor sessions to the environment and the responsibilities of the people developing, administering, and supporting it.

Workshops can use your configuration, representative examples, and agreed operating scenarios. Documentation and runbook walkthroughs help your team apply the knowledge after the engagement.

  • Role-focused technical workshops
  • Configuration and workflow walkthroughs
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance guidance
  • Documentation and operational handover

A practical approach to ZAP

We verify what the scanner actually reached before interpreting the findings. Test configuration and result criteria are documented alongside known coverage gaps, helping developers and security reviewers understand what each recurring scan can and cannot establish.

We agree the work and acceptance checks with your team, validate changes in a suitable environment, and document the outcome. Clear handover makes the configuration, operating procedures, and next actions easier to maintain after delivery.

Supported Versions and Support Hours

Supported versions

Versions below were confirmed against upstream release information on 15 October 2026. We reconfirm them at the start of each engagement.

  • ZAP 2.17. Upstream supports only the latest release, so we plan upgrades with you.

ZAP is delivered as a CI tool image or desktop tool, not as a runtime service.

Support hours

Standard support is delivered in business hours, Monday to Saturday, India Standard Time. Coverage hours, response targets and escalation steps for each severity are defined in the service agreement. Upstream response times are outside our control.
