Beyond the Ordinary
Journey towards a Smart City

Business Background
In the quest for smarter, safer, and more efficient cities, an urban development authority set out to transform governance and service delivery through the use of technology. The city grappled with challenges such as traffic congestion, frequent violations, limited surveillance coverage, and inadequate public infrastructure for communication and safety alerts. The absence of an integrated data ecosystem hampered decision-making, delayed responses, and reduced the city’s ability to meet citizen needs effectively.

Amnex Solution
Amnex implemented an integrated smart city solution focusing on traffic management, urban surveillance, and governance. The Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) included Adaptive Traffic Control Systems (ATCS) and Traffic Enforcement Systems (TES) at 36 key junctions to ease congestion and enforce compliance. A comprehensive surveillance network featured 280+ general cameras, 300+ ANPR cameras, and 250+ red-light violation detection systems. All systems were anchored by an Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) for real-time monitoring and decision-making. GIS integration further strengthened asset management and urban planning capabilities.

Impact
Reduced Traffic Incidents

The implementation of ATCS and ICCC resulted in a notable decrease in accidents, especially at key intersections, improving overall road safety.
Improved Traffic Flow

ATCS dynamically adjusted traffic signals based on real-time data, reducing congestion and shortening travel times for commuters.
Improved Public Amenities

The installation of 40 smart poles with public Wi-Fi, panic buttons, smart lights, and cameras improved public services and safety.
Faster Response Times

Real-time data integration across multiple systems allowed for quicker response times in emergency situations, contributing to a safer and more efficient urban environment.
Higher Revenue Generation

Property surveys and enhanced asset management through GIS and integrated systems boosted property tax revenue and infrastructure management.
