Brighter Nights, Safer Streets
Smart Lighting for Smarter Cities

Business Background
For cities aiming to be both safe and sustainable, street lighting plays a central role. One smart city authority in Gujarat sought to upgrade its outdated lighting infrastructure by integrating it with a centralized command center. The vision was to create an energy-efficient system that also supported surveillance and environmental monitoring. However, limited centralized control, lack of real-time energy usage visibility, delayed fault detection, and absence of integrated security measures resulted in inefficiencies, higher costs, and slower response times.

Amnex Solution
Amnex deployed an intelligent street lighting system fully integrated with the city’s Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC). The solution connected over 20,000 street lights for real-time tracking, fault detection, and automated scheduling, minimizing manual oversight. More than 40 smart poles were installed, featuring surveillance cameras, panic buttons, and environmental sensors for enhanced safety. GPRS-based communication ensured reliable connectivity, while a centralized dashboard enabled efficient monitoring and management of the network.

Impact
Operational Efficiency

Real-time monitoring via ICCC enabled instant fault detection and reduced manual intervention with automated light scheduling.
Energy & Cost Savings
Smart lighting controls reduced energy consumption, while remote diagnostics cut down maintenance costs.
Public Safety
Smart poles with cameras and panic buttons strengthened surveillance and enabled faster emergency responses.
Nighttime Mobility
Optimized lighting reduced dark zones and improved safety and visibility on roads after sunset.
Environmental Sustainability
Energy-efficient infrastructure aligned with green city goals and helped lower the overall carbon footprint.
